Auburn's Nick Fairley, Alabama's Mark Ingram finalists for NCAA Football 2012 cover

It won't be its Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, but Auburn still could have a player land on the cover of NCAA Football 2012 in the next few months.

EA Sports has opened the voting on its popular game franchise with four candidates. Fans in this state will certainly be familiar with two of them.

There's Nick Fairley, the Lombardi Award-winning defensive tackle from Auburn; and there's Mark Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy-winning running back from Alabama.

The other two finalists are Washington quarterback Jake Locker and Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray.

Fairley and Locker were on ESPN2 this morning playing like they were campaigning for the honor.

Where's Auburn quarterback Cam Newton? Maybe a contract issue? Don't know.
