Gators already working on 2009
So much for celebrating landing one of the nation's top recruiting classes.
The University of Florida signed 22 football recruits for next season Wednesday. But UF already has started working on 2009.
Greg Reid, a receiver/defensive back from Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes has verbally committed to sign with the Gators in February of 2009. A life-long Gator fan, he runs a play for his high school team on which he plays quarterback that is called "The Tebow."
Reid has already played for the Gators . . . sort of. A middle school team his parents coached was named the Gators. He said there's no way he will change his commitment in the next year.
He said he couldn't wait to commit after Florida offered him a scholarship, becoming the first announced commitment at any of the state's Division I schools.
In other Gator news, co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison has been offered a coaching position with the Baltimore Ravens, but has yet to take the job.
