It's bad enough to hear the same song for hours. It's even worse when the tune is your opponent's fight song.
Florida's football practice Thursday could be heard from anywhere near the practice field, as the Gators were blaring Tennessee's fight song, Rocky Top.
Florida coach Urban Meyer played the song through practice to try to simulate the environment the Gators will be facing Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.
Asked if he was tired of the song yet, Meyer smiled.
Meyer said.
Meyer first experienced the environment of Neyland Stadium when he was the wide receivers coach at Notre Dame. But the stadium was even louder when he went with the Gators two years ago.
"It's a great venue to play football,"
Meyer said.
Meyer said his main concern with the game is the team's immaturity. He noted 39 players traveling to Tennessee are freshman or sophomores.
Injury updates: Junior linebacker Dustin Doe participated in practice on Thursday, and Meyer said he should play against the Volunteers.
Backup quarterback Cameron Newton is still feeling the effects of a sprained ankle, but he will be making the trip to Tennessee with the team.
Sophomore offensive lineman Maurice Hurt will not play because of a shoulder stinger. He has not played yet this season, but played in eight games in 2007.
