Normally a practice the Wednesday before the Orange and Blue Game for the Gator football team would include a lot of full contact hitting in pads, but not on this Wednesday as a beat up and injured Gator team practiced in helmets and shorts to stay healthy.
Perhaps the best thing about the practice was the return to the field of defensive back Jeremy Brown. Brown missed all of last year with back pain and did participate in many of the drills on Wednesday.
Gator coach Urban Meyer said after practice that sophomore fullback Steven Wilks has been added to the injury list as he will have surgery to repair ACL damage in his knee.
Florida did run plays in shorts and worked on the two minute drill as well. It was also funny when the Gators worked on their punt formations that catching punts alongside Chris Rainey was senior linebacker Brandon Spikes. And, running back Emmanuel Moody looked very sharp after returning to practice after getting a hand injury.
Florida is scheduled to practice Friday before the Orange and Blue Game on Saturday that can be heard on AM 850 and on Rock 104.
