Cam Newton to visit with Bills on Sunday
Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton has made plans to visit with nine NFL teams in the coming weeks prior to the NFL Draft on April 28-30.
Newton is expected to visit with the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday, where the Bills will get a chance to further assess a possible marriage with the college superstar. The Bills hold the third pick in the draft, and according to many, are intrigued with the possibility of bringing Newton to Buffalo.
Whether or not the Bills will draft a quarterback is still up for debate, after the way incumbent Ryan Fitzpatrick performed last season. However, the team is in need of a marquee player that will help revitalize a franchise that has had trouble selling out home games in recent years. Newton, who is arguably the most gifted athlete in the 2011 draft class, is the type of talent that you can build a franchise around.
The current draft class is full of defensive playmakers worthy of a top-3 pick. And despite the Bills need for a defensive playmaker, the organization has seemed to focus on the top two quarterback prospects (Newton and Blaine Gabbert) of late.
The other eight teams who are scheduled to visit with Newton are Miami, Minnesota, Cincinnati, Carolina (who hold the first pick in the draft), Tennessee, Cleveland, Washington, and Denver (who have the second pick in the draft).
